30 Aug 5 Things to Consider during a Warm Weather Move
Moving across the country can be stressful at the best of times, doing so when it’s really warm weather can be even more tiring. Unfortunately, when the sale goes through and the keys are yours, you cannot predict the weather and you definitely can’t change it. If you are moving house during a particularly hot day, there are some things that you can do to make the experience not quite so difficult.
Things to consider during a warm weather move:
- Your comfort
Make yourself as comfortable as possible, wear loose fitting clothes and drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated. Sunscreen is also important because you will be inside and outside periodically throughout the day. Packing a small bag with drinks, light refreshments and other essential items for yourself and your team of movers is going to benefit you in these weather conditions.
- Leave it to the professionals
Doing too much strenuous lifting all by yourself when it’s hot outside is not good. The professionals have so much experience in matters like this and have worked in a variety of weather conditions too. Hiring good quality movers not only means they will get your belongings safely from one place to another, it also means they will do lots of the hard work for you.
- Use a fan
Carry a mini fan around with you to use whenever you need it during your day travelling, the breeze on your face can make such a difference. You could even have a battery operated one in the back of the moving van if this is how you are travelling on the day. It might also be a good idea to set up a fan in your new home, blowing cool air around the area to benefit the movers. In addition to that, keeping windows open will help to cool you all down.
- Think of your pets
If it’s warm for you, it’s even hotter for any pets especially dogs so be prepared for this. Dogs can sense a lot and find moving stressful just like you do. Some things you should be doing on a hot day to ease the strain is to always make sure they have access to cold, fresh water. You should also ensure there is shade nearby at all times so they can rest if they need to. If your dog is travelling in the car/van for a prolonged period of time, make sure the windows are open and you take rests if you need it.
- Pack for the night
Having a separate bag for the first night in your new home is really important. The last thing you are going to feel like doing after a long, warm day of travelling is unpacking. A cold shower is all you will want to do before falling into bed. Pack some essential items for the night like pyjamas, food/drink and bedding for your own convenience.
By following these tips, you are guaranteed a cooler Summer move. It’s the perfect time of the year for getting a new home and being prepared on moving day itself, should help you get everything done in a quick and easy manner.
